It should be noted that Dalmatians are typically quite a healthy and long lived breed. They have few inherited conditions specific to their breed and a few conditions which are present across all dogs that new owners should be aware of.

Of course, just like humans, all dogs can be predisposed to health conditions from their genetic make up, inherited from their parents. With unknown parents, you may have less clues to what sort of health complaints your dog could develop...

 

But with known parents we can predict what diseases run in families. We can health test our dogs and breed away from illness.

With new advances in DNA testing we are actually able to screen a dog's entire genetic profile and look for "bad genes".

​

Dalsano aims to use science wherever possible and be leaders in preemptive health testing. This means we are testing for conditions which currently are not common in the breed to prevent them from taking hold in the future.
